Dear Sterling Montessori Parents, It is hard for me to believe we have reached the end of the school year with only 2 weeks to go. I have said it many times, what a great school we have! Our staff is caring and committed. Parents embrace the Montessori Philosophy and place a high priority on the education of their children. Our school would cease to exist if not for the parent volunteer effort: The Board of Directors, the Parent Faculty Association, class-room helpers and chaperones and on and on. All this is for one reason, our wonderful students. I would like to highlight the coming events. Please plan to attend our End of Year Picnic on Friday, June 12th from 3:30 to 6:30 P.M. Members of the LHU Board will be in C-16 to talk with you individually about the Sterling Guiding Principles and our exciting plans for expansion. Please come by! The Sterling Film Festival will be held on Thursday, June 18h from 6:30- 7:30 P.M. Russ Brandon has directed a number of films with our student actors for you to see. The Sterling Student Council will begin the program with a brief outlook on our school's Guiding Principles and our current accomplishments. Finally, the 8th Grade Graduation Ceremony will take place on Friday, June 19th at 6:30 P.M. on the stage in the back of the Middle School.
Now, two important notices for parents:
If you know your student is leaving Sterling please contact the school immediately. We must maintain full enrollment and we cannot be aware of vacancies unless we are contacted by you. You may not know currently, but please contact us if you depart.
Sterling parents should be aware of the impact of their child's enrollment in the Charter School during the first twenty days of school. As far as state and local funding for each Charter student, your child is not counted as an enrolled student until they attend their first half-day of instruction.
- Full-funding for the year requires that your student be in attendance on the first day of school. 1/20th of the full year funding is deducted each day your child is not enrolled.
- For example, if your child misses the first 5 days of school consecutively, he/she is considered enrolled on the sixth day and the school loses ¼ of the funding for your child for the year.
We believe parents want Sterling Montessori Charter School to receive the full annual funding for their student. Thus, parents should have their child in attendance on the first day of school.
I am proud to be the Executive Director of such a fine school. Thank you for your cooperation and support in this, my first year at Sterling. Sincerely, Bill Zajic Executive Director |
