“The greatest gifts we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.”
-Dr. Maria Montessori
THANK YOU FOR A GREAT FIRST WEEK!
Hellen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
We need each other during challenging times. Distance learning is not easy on the teacher, the child or the parent/guardian. It will take a lot of teamwork to make sure our students are getting what they need. While teachers are providing the lessons and the work, there is a lot of guidance needed from the parents/guardians to make sure students are completing assignments and practicing these lessons. I appreciate all your support. In our classroom communities, we provide the right setting, materials and curriculum to foster peace and embrace differences. While this may look a little different remotely, by promoting inclusion and collaboration, we encourage each other to be open-minded and appreciative of different ideas. At Sterling Montessori, we embrace and celebrate the diversity of our world. Our differences form and inform a rich environment that is a crucial part of educating our children on their path to maturity and global citizenship. Our interactions across our entire community are characterized by guiding principles of respect, equity, justice, humanity, peace, and personal responsibility. During this first week of school, teachers have taken the time to get to know the students, talk about grace and courtesy, and establish community norms or agreements rooted in community values, beliefs and interests. Establishing these norms creates a relationship between the individual and the classroom community. Thank you for your patience, your kindness and teamwork as we navigate distance learning together!!
