“Establishing lasting peace is the work of education; all politics can do is keep us out of the war.”
— Dr. Maria Montessori

Thank you for your participation in completing the Learning Track questionnaire.  For Kindergarten through 8th grade, 53% will be in Distance Learning and 47% will be in the Blended Learning track.  Kindergarten students will be returning for a transition week starting Monday and we are continuing to arrange placement and teacher assignments for those 1st-8th grade students returning in January.  We will finalize and send everyone notice of their placement by Wednesday, December 9th.  At the February Board meeting, the Board will be revisiting our potential plans for Blended Learners to return full time.

We wish all our families a safe and joyous Halloween this weekend!  Have fun and stay safe in all that you may do.  Registration is still open through November 1st for our Stolen Stingray Scavenger Hunt.  We already have families who have completed the mission!  Join them by exploring Morrisville Parks, solving puzzles and being eligible to win prizes - all supporting our school.  Registration is $10/entry through MySchoolBucks or https://secure.lglforms.com/form_engine/s/bkg9ZYJsXfSW7jJTSnK4FQ

Our Yearbook committee is hoping you are taking pictures of your adventures. If you have any please submit them to the following Google sites:

What does the money raised from our Annual Treasure Chest or PFA fundraisers like the Scavenger Hunt go towards? In case you missed it earlier this year, please take some time to read our Annual Fund Introduction and our Case for Support for our Charter School.  This year has brought many challenges to each of us, from expenses to supporting families with technology hardware and software, to helping families with the Children’s House and Elementary Kits for Virtual Learning, to capital costs maintaining our buildings for the return of students. Participation in fun activities like the Scavenger Hunt -OR- donating to our Treasure Chest -OR- giving your time and energy to help us during Garden Week are just a few ways to give back and all so very appreciated to help Sterling in its mission.

Also, don’t forget to link your AmazonSmile account to the Laura Holland Uzzell Foundation (Sterling’s governing organization).

Here’s a great video (link) announcing plans for the 2020-21 Yearbook!  The YEARBOOK is your story...help us tell it! Not that anyone will forget 2020, but without documentation the details fade with time. Our first question is about...you guessed it...COVID! The impact has been enormous for all, but our experiences have been different so share your stories of new discoveries, mask fashion and what you miss. With gratitude, The Yearbook Team https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1x4NF4FopAjXU7gTM59kR6ynrJKw_uM09lbCUnCfMi28/edit

Our Sterling picture order from Lifetouch wasn't complete and we were missing images from our order. Lifetouch has located these images, is printing them and we are awaiting delivery.  We will update you as soon as we know the days to schedule pickups.  As before, please accept our sincere apology for this delay. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Laura Chintapalli, laura.chintapalli@gmail.com.

Retakes of Students & Staff is scheduled for Thursday, November 12th. If your student was absent for the previous Individual Picture Days or is in need of retakes, please plan to have this done on this day. These pictures will be used in the Yearbook!

Schedule an Appointment:  https://booknow.appointment-plus.com/cxhkghhs/ (Everyone must have an appointment, walk-ins not permitted)

If a portrait package was purchased & a retake is requested, this picture package must be given to the photographer on 11/12 for the retake. It is very helpful for the retake photographer to receive a note with the picture package explaining what changes are needed.  Like with Fall Picture Days, families need to place their online order before Retake Day if their student is getting a picture taken for the first time. These orders need to be placed before the end of the day on 11/12 for orders to be shipped to the school. Orders placed after this time, will be shipped to your home for a fee.

Please remember that when you are dropping off or picking up your child, Sterling requires parents to be wearing a mask.

Also, please join us on November 10th @ 4:30pm for the PFA community meeting. If anyone is interesting but not sure about the committee, they can set up a time for a Zoom chat with Kyle Munn at kfmunn@gmail.com.

image2.jpgThis is my 4th year being part of the Exceptional Children's team. My relationship with Sterling goes back to when my daughter, a lifer at Sterling, showed me the Montessori way of education. After many years of being a volunteer and a substitute teacher at Sterling, I realized that this is where I belong. With my accounting and financial background, I have been in multiple roles. But nothing fascinated me like teaching the kids and being part of their life.

But Why Exceptional Children? I love the challenge in teaching and I work with kids from Lower Elementary to Middle school. Every individual has different ways of learning and the exceptional children give me the opportunity to see those in close quarters. I believe that the Montessori way of teaching gives a good foundation for students in visualizing and absorbing the concepts better.
